Hello!
As September begins, I’m reminded of the importance of unity and working together. Our community is strongest when we listen to one another, keep an open mind, and find common ground, even when we don’t always agree.
As your State Representative, my responsibility is to serve all people in the 18th Middlesex District. It doesn’t matter whether you voted for me or not, or whether you are a Democrat, Republican, or Independent, my commitment is to represent and support everyone.
I know that not everyone will agree with every approach I take to address the issues we face. But I can promise you this: every decision I make, and every effort I take, is guided by one goal, improving our community and making life better for all of us. That requires looking at every challenge with an open mind, welcoming new ideas, and being willing to explore solutions together. We cannot shy away from tough issues or dismiss good ideas simply because they are difficult or unpopular.
As we move forward, let’s continue building on that spirit of connection. When we approach challenges with openness and respect, we create space for new ideas and lasting solutions. Together, we can ensure our community grows in a way that uplifts everyone.
And as always, my office is here to support you and your family, whether with housing, education, or other resources you may need. Please don’t hesitate to reach out anytime.
With gratitude,
Tara T. Hong
State Representative
18th Middlesex District

I joined my colleagues on the Joint Committee on Environment and Natural Resources for a Climate Change, Energy, & Environmental Justice hearing.
This legislation would hold big polluters accountable and help Massachusetts invest in a cleaner, more sustainable future. |

What an amazing night at Lowell’s Celebration of Democracy event!
Democracy only works when we show up — to vote, to engage, and to build a stronger community together. Big thanks to Lowell Alliance, Mosaic Lowell, city of Lowell and all the volunteers who made this possible!

International Overdose Awareness Day was observed at Lowell City Hall. Thank you to the City of Lowell and The Megan House Foundation for calling the community together to remember those we have lost to overdose, and to recognize the important work being done to prevent overdose deaths, assist those on their recovery journey, and ending the stigma around substance abuse disorder.
On that day it served as an important reminder that addiction is not a moral failure, it is a public health crisis, and that each life lost represents a person who was someone’s loved one, neighbor, or friend. Learn what to do if you suspect someone has overdosed: https://youcan.info/ |

Naturalization Ceremony was hosted in Lowell’s Boarding House Park. It was an honor to witness this important moment in the lives of those choosing to become American citizens.
To the new citizens: congratulations on your incredible journey. Becoming an American is not just about the rights you gain, but also about responsibilities that come with being an American citizen. America is at its best when all of us are engaged in shaping our shared future. Your voices, your ideas, and your leadership strengthen our democracy.
As an immigrant myself, I know the sacrifices and perseverance it takes to stand where you are today. Your traditions, talents, and dreams now become part of our nation’s story. The future is brighter because of you! |
