Welcome to the July newsletter from State Representative Tara Hong's office! We're thrilled to share some exciting updates from July, and plans for the coming months.
Hello, Everyone!

Hello friends,

I hope you’re doing well. The month of July has been full of action, energy, and meaningful work. Over the past seven months in this position, I’ve stayed focused on one core goal: delivering resources and support to those who need it. From community events to legislative advocacy, this month has been a powerful reminder of why this work matters—and how much we can accomplish when we do it together.

Now more than ever, we need to stand united. When we look out for one another, when we speak up for our neighbors, and when we come together to fight for what’s right—we build a stronger, more caring community. Let’s continue to lift each other and create a future where everyone has the support they need to thrive.

If you need assistance from Unemployment, have questions about housing, or need help with your child's education, please don't hesitate to contact me or my office at any time. We will do our best to serve you, providing the help and support you need.

Best,

Tara T. Hong
State Representative
18th Middlesex District

On July 1st, the House passed the budget. The FY 26 budget reflects our shared priorities: investing in education, housing, public health, and the local programs that make a real difference in people’s lives. Find the full summary here.

Included in the budget were the following local earmarks:
  • $25,000 for Cambodian Mutual Assistance Association (CMAA) After School Cultural Program and Rising Stars Sports & Leadership Summer Day Camp
  • $25,000 for Coalition for a Better Acre (CBA) YES!

    Year-round Out-of-School-Time program

  • $25,000 for Latinx Community Center for Empowerment (LCCE) workforce development program
Rourke Bridge Project Public Meeting
On July 15th, MassDOT held a public meeting regarding the plan for the Rourke Bridge Replacement Project. You can keep up-to-date by visiting the MassDOT Project Page.
I was proud to vote yes on a crucial bill to protect access to reproductive and transgender health care in Massachusetts.

This bill updates our 2022 shield law to better guard against out-of-state legal threats, limiting the release of sensitive data, protecting doctors’ identities, and ensuring emergency abortion care is accessible when medically necessary.
It was a great honor to join the Asian Business Empowerment Council as a panelist at the AAPI Business Leadership Breakfast.
Welcome Weston & Sampson to the heart of the Lowell Innovation Network Corridor (LINC)! This is an exciting step forward for innovation and economic growth in our city.
Thank you to everyone who came out on July 29th to stand in solidarity with Cambodia. Your presence, your voices, and your love made it clear: we are united, and we are not backing down. Let’s continue to push for peace, justice, and freedom for our people. Let’s continue to stand together—for Cambodia. Let’s stand together to ensure that Thailand upholds the agreement to end the war.
Local Business Recognition
I stopped by Oshare Sushi & Bar today to offer my congratulations on their new opening in the Acre neighborhood! The food is amazing—fresh, and beautifully prepared. It’s exciting to see new small businesses choosing Lowell to grow and thrive. Let’s show them some love—swing by, enjoy a great meal, and help welcome them to the community!
